Design Issue Statement
Malaysians today are losing interests in the old tales and tradition which was once
an important part of cultural and family value as they get influenced by modernized
stories from the western world such as Cinderella, Snow White & Sleeping Beauty.

Objective
Using design to recreate the form of Malaysian folklore to attract the younger
generations of Malaysian and inspire them to the continuation to the evolution and
passing on of the local folklore literature.

• Gather stories of Malaysian Folklores
• Study about how Japanese and Western Folklores, about their success in
incorporating it into modern pop culture and lifestyle.
• Research and create visuals suitable for the work
• Create interest of Malaysian Folklore toward the younger generation by using
quirkly satarical art direction and attractive images.

Design Concept
Using Visual Narratives with attractive and images to create interests of the younger
generation towards Malaysian Folklores.

Target Audience
Young Malaysians Age 14-35
Tourists to Malaysia Age 18-45

Learning about the Folklores of Malaysia can benefit those who wish to gain
knowledge about the local culture. Through the humourous stories, not only can
it entertain the audience, it will also educate the audience about the morals and
cultural values of Malaysians as they get absorbed into the whimsical world of the
folklore stories.
